Dnes si mladé páry často hradí výdaje na svatbu z vlastních prostředků, především když žijí ve společné domácnosti už nějakou dobu před svatbou. Projděte několik svatebních salónů, než si vypůjčíte šaty, zjistěte si ceny svatebních oznámení u různých dodavatelů, při výběru místa pro svatební hostinu oslovte více podniků a nechte si předložit nabídky za pronájem a hostinu s částkou rozpočítanou na osobu. Nebojte se zeptat na možnost slevy, obchodníci jsou často připraveni jít s cenou dolů, aby zakázku dostali. Pokud se s přípravami trefíte zrovna do termínu některého ze svatebních veletrhů, neváhejte se tam vydat. Můžete narazit na výrazné slevy zboží i služeb, které právě sháníte. Vaši hosté se jistě nebudou bavit o nic méně, pokud slavnost uspořádáte u vás na zahradě a ne zrovna v luxusní restauraci. Ušetřit se dá i tak, že přesunete svatební obřad na odpoledne a tím vynecháte oběd. Slavnost může začít třeba rautem nebo lehčím občerstvením podávaným před večeří. Jestli se nechcete svatebního oběda vzdát, uspořádejte ho jen pro pár nejbližších a ostatní hosty pozvěte až na večerní oslavu.
Na závěr se hodí připomenout, že svatba vás bude něco stát, i když se pokusíte rozpočet maximálně ořezat. Krásné vzpomínky na vstup do společného života však za nějakou tu ztrátu na účtu určitě stojí.
